A third, more obscure dating method which may occasionally be encountered uses dates calculated from the beginning of the reign of JIMMU (660 - 585 BCE), who was the first emperor of Japan.
For any year date using this method, simply subtract 660 and you have the equivalent CE year.
For example a Jimmu date of 2590 = (2590 - 660) = 1930 CE
